Slipstreaming Patches in SharePoint 2010

I have faced one scenario that have to run the SharePoint 2010 with latest patches but I had 3 different setup files such as SharePoint 2010 setup, SharePoint Service pack 1 setup file, SharePoint latest cumulative update

 It would consume huge time to install each file on the Servers.

Finally I found the concept called slipstreaming the patches and solution steps below

 Run the below commands one by one to create directory and extract the setup files

1.       Mkdir C:\SP2010

2.       Officeserver.exe  /extract:c:\sp2010

3.       officeserver2010sp1-kb2460045-x64-fullfile-en-us.exe /extract:c:\SP2010\Updates

4.       office2010-kb2596505-fulfile-x64-glb.exe /extract:C:\SP2010\Updates

Once you extracted all the files in single setup file (slipstreaming) and now you ready to run the setup file to install SharePoint.

STSADM command for people picket for trusted domain users in sharepoint site

Today I have tried to search the trusted domain users account directly on the sharepoint People Picker in the sharepoint site but its not displaying in the people picker search page.

Finally found the following STSADM commands for set the people picker to pickup the trusted domain users in the sharepoint site.

Run below command for creating a credential key

stsadm -o setapppassword -password <password>

Run the below command for pickup the trusted domain in the search page.

stsadm -o setproperty -url <web application url> -pn peoplepicker-searchadforests -pv forest:<source forest>;domain:<trusted domain>,<trusted domain>\<account>,<password>

Office 365 Exchange Hybrid Demo and Email Migration

      Now a day’s most of the Small organization wants to move their Emails to office 365 and they are migrating or moving their mailbox’s using out of box Email migration tool which is free tool in office 365 by themselves using free demo videos, documents etc..

For medium and large scale organization who wants to setup hybrid between their on premise exchange server and Exchange online, they may not be able to get some hybrid demonstration.

But for those who want demonstration of Exchange Hybrid for office 365, I can demonstrate them and offer  service for Email migration and Office 365 Exchange Hybrid deployment.

Configure and Deploy Office 365 Hybrid

I have worked complicated and challenging project which is configuring and deploying Office 365 Hybrid and Succeeded recently. I have deployed Office 365 Hybrid on existing on premise exchange 2007 Environment. I have followed below steps to achieve this goal.

1.       Install prerequisites software on Exchange 2007 Servers such as Service pack and Cumulative updates which supports for Hybrid.

2.       Install Exchange 2013 CU1 on Existing Exchange server 2007

3.       Configured Coexistence between Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013

4.       Make sure Auto discover records points to your Exchange 2013

5.       Deploy the Hybrid in Exchange 2013 with office 365 by running Hybrid configuration Wizard

6.       Test and verify by creating the user account , by moving the mailbox and by mail flow

Office 365 Hybrid Deployment

I had great experince on deploying office 365 hybrid deployment between on premise Exchange 2007 and Exchange online. I have been used office 365 deployment Assistant Tool which had very good guidelines to setup hybrid and Got success.

In this Assistant Tool does not have guidelines of Firewall server if you have in your environment like ISA/TMG or Cisco. Network Admin/Security Admin have to involve to publish the sites to internet.

Windows 8 activation Error 0x8007007B

When i tried to activate windows 8 OS, I got "Error 0x8007007B  The File name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect, contact your administrator" error message and tried below commands to change my product key and activation.

Open Command as administrar and type below command one by one

slmgr.vbs /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

slmgr.vbs /ato

The first command will update the key.
The second command will activate Windows.
Replace the "XXXX" bits with your Windows 8 Key

Sharepoint Search working only for Sharepoint Admin

Sharepoint Search is not working anyone Except Sharepoint Admin

I configured Sharepoint Search and Crawled the Sharepoint Websites in the Sharepoint 2010 Server and verified Search is working using Sharepoint Admin Account but the search was not working for all sharepoint Users.

Found the Solution:
                             Finally found cause for the Issue that needs to Sharepoint Search Service Account in windows server 2003 Active Directory "Add Users to the Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access Group" .

Once we added the Service Account on that group then Search was working for Everyone.
